Cherie and Steven was one of the most relaxing weddings I've ever done. When I first met them, I already knew most of their story because I was friends with Cherie's mother. They didn't really want to talk about how they met, which I respected, and will respect here in my blog post. However, it was no mistake that they were in love with each other.
When I asked them what made them fall in love with each other, they both used such beautiful words:
Cherie: He's amazing. He's kind, and generous. All those good things. He's the most selfless person I've ever met in my life.
Steven: We compliment each other a lot.
Now, if you look really closely to this picture, you will see that it's not actually me who did the ceremony. When I was asked if I had this date available, I did not, however, I can't leave a bride hanging.
I called up one of my best friends who filed to be a wedding officiant on the same day I did (we actually went to the Clerk of Court together!). She had done it for a friend's wedding, but I knew she would be perfect for this couple since the groom was from Lafayette and my friend was from Eunice! She had that date available!
So, I did my interview with the couple like I always do, wrote the ceremony and let the couple get the final approval, and sent it to my colleague who did all the legal stuff and performed the ceremony.
On to the important question: How did he propose?!
Cherie said that every year for her birthday, which is in December, they go to New Orleans and see all the lights. They were taking a picture and that's when Steven decided it was time. He got down on one knee and proposed! Talk about a photo op!! Cherie described the location of the proposal as "their place" which I thought was absolutely adorable!
One thing that I noticed in the interview was that they kept saying that the reason why they "complimented" each other was because they accepted each other for who they are with no judgement and nothing but love. That is such an amazing feeling when you find that person who loves us truly unconditionally. I mean, just look at the way they look at each other in this picture! You can see their love!
Their ceremony was very simple, which is so beautiful and so them. It was celebrated at Cherie's mother's house, with family, close friends, and lots of love!
Here's to you, Lancon's!
